UNION, NJ -- Scotch Plains-Fanwood finished 5th in the Union County Wrestling tournament held in Union on Saturday.  

Sam Wustefeld, ranked No. 1 going into the competition, met expectations by winning his 182 lb. weight class. 

"Sam won his first County championship. He wrestled very well," said head coach Marc Fabiano in an interview with TAPintoSPF. "His offensive and defensive positions were outstanding. He really pushed the pass in all his matches."

Junior co-captain Jack Cannon placed 4th in the tournament at 138 lbs. 

"Jack gave his all tonight in a very tough weight class," Fabiano said. "He is looking great and pushed the pace in every match."

Participating schools in the tournament were: A.L. Johnson (Clark), Cranford, David Brearley (Kenilworth), Dayton, Elizabeth, Gov. Livingston, New Providence, Linden, Plainfield, Rahway, Roselle Park, Scotch Plains-Fanwood, Union, and Westfield.

Update: Health Authorities Still Investigating Flu Death of Elizabeth Schoolgirl

ELIZABETH, NJ - The New Jersey Department of Health is continuing to investigate the cause of the passing of elementary school student Daniela Genaro after it was confirmed that the student had been diagnosed with influenza. Officials said it "presently remains unclear whether or not the virus was the primary contributing factor to the child's passing."
