 1/14                     An owner of a Route 22 store reported being a victim of Criminal Mischief. He stated that sometime overnight unknown suspect(s) threw paint on his building causing damage.

1/14                      The manager of a Route 22 gas station reported being a victim of a Theft.  He stated a customer received approximately $20 in gas and then left without paying.

1/14                      A resident of Indian Run Lane reported being a victim of Fraud.  She stated that unknown suspect(s) made approximately $300 in purchases on her credit card without her authorization.

1/15                      James Ashe Age. 45 of Pine St. Montclair N.J. was arrested for a $750 outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court.  Off. Rites stopped Ashe for a motor vehicle violation on Park Ave. and discovered the warrant.  He was transported to H.Q. where he was processed and released.

1/15                      Jhoan Delima Age. 25 of Clover St. Elizabeth N.J. was arrested for a $1,350 outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court.  Off. B. Belford stopped Delima for a motor vehicle violation on East Second St. and discovered the warrant.  He was transported to H.Q. where he was processed released.

1/16                      Mandel Sly Age. 24 of Sunset Pl. Scotch Plains N.J.  was arrested for a $2,500 outstanding warrant issued by the Scotch Plains court.  Off. Rites stopped Sly for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 and discovered the warrant.  He was transported to H.Q. where he was processed and released.

1/16                      A resident of Willow Ave. reported being a victim of Fraud.  She stated she received a letter from a collection agency stating she owed $1,600 for purchases she made.  She stated she never made these purchases. 

1/18                      A resident of Westfield reported being a victim of a Theft. She stated that while she was at a Park Ave. restaurant unknown suspect(s) removed her cell phone from her pocketbook.  The phone was valued at approximately $700.

1/19                      Rodolfo Chozo Age. 30 of South 10th St. Plainfield N.J. was arrested for Obstruction of Justice.  At approximately 1:00 a.m.  Off. Everitt responded to a report of a disturbance in the parking lot of a Park Ave. bar.  While Off. Everitt was investing, Chozo refused to listen to his instructions then he attempted to run away.  Off. Everitt placed Chozo under arrest.  He was transported to H.Q. where she was processed and released.

We Have To Budget Better

As we have been visiting residents while campaigning, quite a few have expressed their disappointment with the lack of a branch pickup after the recent large storms. Our neighbors in Fanwood picked up branches after these storms, but in Scotch Plains the manager says we can't because "budgets are tight".
