SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Gianna Peralta belted a walk-off homer over the center-field fence to lead off the bottom of the eighth inning to give third-seeded Union Catholic a 2-1 victory over DePaul in the quarterfinal round of the NJSIAA North Jersey, Non-Public A Tournament on Wednesday in Scotch Plains.

Peralta, a freshman, drove in both runs for the Vikings, including a third-inning RBI double that scored Angelia Del Negro.

DePaul tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the seventh inning, the only run against Justina Benvenuto, who allowed six hits and two walks, fanning six.

Union Catholic, now 16-7 on the season, will travel to Demarest to take on second-seeded Holy Angels this Tuesday in the semifinal round.
