SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Kendall McKeon, Union Catholic's head girls lacrosse coach this past spring, was recently honored by the Somerset Patriots as part of its Positive Coaches Night at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater.
The coaches chosen for Positive Coaches Night were selected because they have gone above and beyond on and off the field and provided their players, school and community with an enhanced and positive environment. The Somerset Patriots honor coaches that have made a difference at all levels off sports.
Coach McKeon, an assistant lacrosse coach at UC for two seasons before taking over as head coach, is scheduled to graduate from Kean University this December with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in Health.

"Being recognized was an honor for me,'' said Coach McKeon. "We faced some fierce competitors this season, so staying positive was something that was a huge focus of mine and to be recognized for it made me feel proud. Keeping a positive attitude is part of having good sportsmanship which is the most important thing out on the field and that's what I wanted the girls to take away from this season above anything else.''
Coach McKeon said it was very gratifying to represent Union Catholic.
"Being able to sit in the stands and look out and see the UC banner in the outfield of Patriots Stadium was so cool,'' said Coach McKeon. "We work really hard to honor the core values as a team and it's a great reminder that it's more than a sport, we are representing UC every time we step out on the field. To be able to represent Union Catholic among many other respected coaches at Patriots Stadium made me proud to be a part of such a great community and thankful for everyone's support.''
