EDISON, NJ-- The girls’ golf team at The Wardlaw+Hartridge School in Edison opened its 2021 season in style, winning the title at the Red Devil Classic with an impressive performance at Copper Hill Country Club in Flemington. The Rams rolled to the team title, posting a four-player score of 307, which ranked 33 strokes ahead of runner-up Montgomery.

All four W+H girls placed in the top seven, led by individual runners-up Jenelle Valera of Piscataway and Sarah Shao of Green Brook, who each shot a 4-over-par round of 76. Grace Lu of Edison was one shot back with a 77 that was tied for fifth, and younger sister Claire Lu of Edison fired a 78 that placed seventh.

Opening the season with four players breaking 80 in a tournament bodes well for the W+H girls, who have set their sights on more championships this spring.
