SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- The Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School choirs will perform Cabaret for a Cause on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the SPFHS auditorium. The community is invited to a night of musical theater performed by student choir ensembles and soloists. In lieu of admission tickets, concert goers are encouraged to donate to the Long Term Care Center at Children’s Specialized Hospital. There will also be a bake sale as well as information about how community members can get involved with Children’s Specialized.

All the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Long Term Care Center at Children's Specialized Hospital in Mountainside. Donations will go towards funding specialized care for the children who live there, as well as equipment and toys for the kids.

The fundraiser is being led by Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School senior Gabrielle Klausner, a dedicated member of the Long Term Care Center (LTC), which is home to 46 children. She collected over 200 books to start a new library, and established a new program where she visits the LTC to run their recreational therapy sessions. Klausner was inspired to continue giving back and organized this fundraiser.

"Cabaret for a Cause is a great opportunity to not only support the talented singers in the SPFHS choirs, but to also support and incredible organization," Klausner says. “I’m looking forward to bringing the community together for a night of musical theater and giving back.”

Children’s Specialized Hospital, a nonprofit organization, is leading the way into a brighter future for children and adolescents facing special health challenges – from chronic illnesses and complex physical disabilities like brain and spinal cord injuries, to developmental and behavioral issues like autism and mental health.
