FANWOOD, NJ -- COVID has shut down Broadway and theaters across the country, a determined group  of young local theater performers, the Culdesac Players, brought their performance outdoors and presented Hamilton: The Musical on Byron Place in Fanwood last weekend.

The Culdesac Players group was founded by (soon-to-be) 13-year-old Grayson Kelly, who started this theater company over the summer because she loves theater and missed performing.

"I got a small group of friends together (8) and organized a production of Wicked while maintaining appropriate social distance.  We invited local friends and family to attend on my lawn and had an audience of about 50 people for each of our 2 performances," Grayson said. "Since then, our company has grown and raised funds for costumes, sound equipment and other ways to expand and improve. Our theater company is entirely kid-run, and we are excited to keep growing and putting on more productions."

The cast of Hamilton had been rehearsing since September. Grayson directed and choreographed the show, as well as performed in it.

"I chose Hamilton for our 2nd show because I love it!  When it was on Disney+, I realized that more people were watching and learning about it a lot more and figured that they would enjoy seeing a live production of it," Grayson said. "Also, with a lot of new members to Culdesac Players, it was the perfect show to feature everyone!"
