PISCATAWAY, NJ -- In their second competition of the 2019 season at Piscataway High School on Sept. 28, the Scotch Plains Fanwood Raiders Marching Band once again earned a first place trophy in their division and topped all the competing bands with an overall score of 84.463.  In addition, the band earned awards in their division for Best Colorguard, Best Percussion, Best Visual, and Best Overall Effect.

The Raiders Marching Band is directed by Durand Thomas. Additional band staff includes Assistant Director John Gillick and Color Guard Director Jackie Tumolo. Student Drum Majors are Joe Elkin, Emelyne Johns, and Emma O’Brien. The band's 2019 show is titled Bocetos de España (“Sketches of Spain”)

The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Music Boosters encourage everyone to support the band when they compete along with 47 other bands from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Virginia at the Yamaha Cup on Saturday, Oct. 5, at MetLife Stadium.
