SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Live Band Karaoke Night on Monday, August 26, at the Alan Augustine Village Green featured Scotch Plains residents and some folks visiting from neighboring towns to sing a range of music that spanned from Amy Winehouse to Billy Joel and Tom Petty. Mayor Al Smith, Councilwoman Elizabeth Stamler and other town officials led the grand finale: Bon Jovi's "Living on a Prayer." (See video below).

Sophia Dimayuga of Edison, whose voice instructor encouraged her to participate in the Live Band Karaoke event, was judged as best performer for her version of “Valerie” by Amy Winehouse.

"People are already asking me about next year. We had an awesome turnout tonight," Tom Strowe, development coordinator for Scotch Plains and a driving force behind the Live Band Karaoke event, told TAPintoSPF. "The weather is perfect, people are having fun. It's a great night for Scotch Plains."
