FANWOOD, NJ -- Even though K-9 Resorts was considered an essential business and thus was always allowed to remain open, owners Jason and Stephen Parker made the decision in March to temporarily suspend operations.
The Parker Brothers, who have built a franchise corporation of 50 locations in the past 15 years, announced on April 30 that K-9 Resorts of Fanwood will reopen on May 4.
"Safety is top of mind as we take every precaution to keep you and our staff safe. These precautions begin with curbside drop-off and pick-up. When you arrive in your car, just call us at 908-490-0808, and we'll have someone come out to meet you," the Parkers wrote in a letter to clients. "We have also implemented increased deep cleaning and sanitation procedures throughout the facility and all staff will be wearing masks."
"In cases where it is absolutely necessary to come into the lobby, we welcome you but also require everyone to practice social distancing and wear a mask," the letter said. "We are doing everything we can to keep you safe and ask for your cooperation and patience as these added safety measures may increase the time it takes for our staff to serve you. Again, your understanding and cooperation is greatly appreciated!"
The K-9 staff will continue to monitor the situation closely, including news that a handful of animals tested positive for COVID-19. The facility is following guidance from the International Boarding & Pet Services Association and the World Organization For Animal Health (OIE), which have stated there is no evidence that pets play a significant role in spreading the disease.
As a small business in the hospitality industry, we understand fully the impact COVID-19 has had on the people and businesses in our community and across the country. Now, as we reopen, we thank you for your support which means so much to our business, us personally, and our staff.
We can't wait to see you and your dog soon!
