FANWOOD, NJ -- Dhammakaya International Meditation Center (257 Midway Ave., Fanwood) hosted a Candle-Lighting for World Peace on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019. Attendees included Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr and Dr. Joan Mast, superintendent of the SPFK12 school district, monks from the Dhammakaya Center, and members of the public. 

"It was a very moving and beautiful ceremony," Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr told TAPintoSPF.net.

Dhammakaya International Meditation Center began meeting in 1998  to help people learn to journey inward to find true happiness. The center promotes meditation, peace, spiritual awareness, and harmony to humankind. Meditation sessions are conducted by Dhammakaya practitioners who have dedicated themselves to teaching meditation and dhamma (the reality of life) to restore tranquility to the world through inner peace. Besides weekly Basic Meditation Practice every Saturday from 3:00- 4:30 p.m. the center also hosts Weekend Retreats, 1-Day Retreats, 7-Class Series, and Lectures in Buddhism and Dhamma.
