FANWOOD, NJ -- Fanwood has advanced to Round 2 of New Jersey Monthly’s “2019 Small Town Showdown” by defeating Bernardsville in the initial Sweet 16 bracket.
The competition began on August 27, when the magazine selected 16 small towns and pitted them against each other in a bracket-style elimination contest sponsored by SoJo Spa Club.
The eight winners of the first round voting were: Caldwell, Chester, Fanwood, Haddonfield, Hopewell Borough, Lambertville, Park Ridge, and Point Pleasant Beach.
Voting is open now for Round 2, which will narrow the field to a Final Four semifinals, for which voting will begin at noon on Sept. 17.
“I’m so proud of this community and of this town and want to thank everyone for voting,” said Mayor Colleen Mahr in a phone interview with TAPintoSPF.
"I encourage people to vote for Fanwood and will remind on Sunday, Fanny Wood Day, one of our signature events, to show their support for the Borough by voting in the contest," she added.
