SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Cowboys, aliens, superheroes and princesses descended upon downtown Scotch Plains for the annual "Trunk or Treat" event on Park Avenue near the Municipal Building.

Councilwoman Elizabeth Stamler, the governing body's liaison to the Recreation Commission, reported that more than 1,200 trick-or-treaters attended the two-hour event by 4:30 p.m.

The event in downtown will feature hay rides, a dog costume contest, and of course, lots of candy.
