SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- "Warrior Week" in Scotch Plains and Fanwood culminates with the Veterans Recognition Committee (VRC) "Salute to Veterans BBQ" at St. Bart's Academy on Sunday, Nov. 10. The committee has honored local vets on Memorial Day and Veterans Day and implemented the popular Hometown Heroes banners program in both towns.

Two local veterans organizations, American Legion Post 209 and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFM) 10122, will conduct their ceremony on Monday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day at 11:00 a.m. with the laying of wreaths at the Veterans Monument at Park Ave. and Front Street in Scotch Plains. A Veteran's Day ceremony will also take place in Fanwood at 12:00 Noon at the Fanwood Memorial Library. 

Members of the community are invited to attend these programs to recognize the contributions and sacrifices made by all former members of the U.S. armed forces.

After the 11:00 Veterans Day Ceremony, all veterans are invited to have a cup of coffee with Mayor and Council at the Highlander Restaurant. In Fanwood, businesses including Sheelan's Crossing, are hosting special promotions for veterans.
