SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- If there is one thing that the coronavirus has given us, it's a greater appreciation of the workers who serve the public day in and day out: teachers, police officers, firefighters and DPW workers. Today's Positively SPF feature is a shout-out to the DPW workers who fix the streets and keep them clean.

"We have adjusted their schedules to maximize social distancing requirements and are working regular hours to get our job done," said John Piccola of Fanwood DPW. "They're out early getting the job done."

"From my perspective, the public works employees, especially Frank DiNizo, are working hard providing services, including things like deep-cleaning the Municipal Building every Saturday," said Scotch Plains Township Manager Al Mirabella. "My hat's off to the public works staff and all of the municipal employees who keep essential services going in Scotch Plains," says Mirabella. "We are taking this seriously and avoiding contact as much as possible."
