SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Another sign of the return to normalcy (almost) -- the Scotch Plains Farmers Market today announced that the popular outdoor market will begin on Saturday, May, 23, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. just in time for Memorial Day Weekend. More than a dozen vendors have already signed up for this year's market.
There will be modifications, however.
- No cars will be allowed to enter the lot.
- Both customers and vendors will be asked to wear masks and gloves.
- Visitors will not be permitted the touch the food.
- The market prefers credit card payment, rather than cash payment.
"More and more vendors will be coming aboard as things begin to evolve here," said Jeff Stein, who co-manages the market with Lisa Mohn on behalf of the Scotch Plains Professionals and Business Association. "Additional Information to follow as we will be updating information on our website, and keeping you informed. We can't wait to see your smiling faces again, that's for sure."
Shoppers will be able to park on Park Ave., East Second Street, and the parking lot behind Mass Pizza and the lot behind John's Meat Market and Apple Blossom Flower Shop.
"If it's a nice day, we encourage people to walk," said Lisa Mohn. "No dogs allowed, at this time, except for service dogs. Please discourage shopping in groups help comply with social distancing measures."
