WESTFIELD, NJ — The wait is over for an upscale hamburger restaurant and bar.
The Bareburger location at 126 Central Ave. in Westfield is open for business, the chain announced on Instagram. Patrons could be seen dining at the establishment Friday evening.
In 2018, Bareburger purchased the unused liquor license from the former Jolley Trolley Bar & Grill, which had closed in 2016.
While officials had then anticipated the Bareburger location would open in early 2020, the opening was delayed and in September town officials said New Jersey’s allowable indoor dining capacity during COVID-19 would determine the opening date.
As of Friday, indoor dining capacity in New Jersey is set at 25% and establishments must close by 10 p.m.
Bareburger's website says its restaurants specializes in healthy eating.
“All you carnivorous, veggie-heads and gluten-haters come hang at our place and let us serve you all the local, organic, & sustainable burgers, shakes, salads, fries and sides your earth-loving mouths can handle,” the website says.
The high-end hamburger chain has other locations in Edgewater, Montclair, Ridgewood and New York City, among other places.
While previously discussed as a possibility, rooftop dining had not been set up at the restaurant in Westfield Friday evening.
