SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ – Felton Jones of Savory Selections Catering has advanced to the semi-final round of the online competition to be named Favorite Chef. If he receives the most votes in his group by the time balloting ends on Thursday, he would move on to the final round.
"I've made it further than I thought I was going to make it," Jones told TAPintoSPF. "I'm happy with how far I've gotten so far and thankful for all the support."
In addition to earning the title of Favorite Chef, the winner of the competition, which is hosted by celebrity chef Eddie Matney, and benefits the non-profit organization Feeding America, will receive a $50,000 cash prize and be featured in a two-page advertising spread in Bon Appétit magazine.
A lifelong local resident, Jones creates "Traditional no frills, no fuss good food."
"We use simple ingredients to deliver robust flavor," Jones says. "It tastes as good as it looks."
Fans can cast one vote per day for Jones. Additionally, 'Hero Votes' can be made with a donation to Feeding America, the nation’s largest organization dedicated to fighting domestic hunger through a nationwide network of food banks. Each 'Hero Vote' is $1 and Favorite Chef donates proceeds to the non-profit.
