SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Mayor Josh Losardo and Scotch Plains officials helped cut the ribbon outside Grano Pizzeria & Italian Tavern (435 Park Ave., the former site of Alfonso's Pizza) in downtown Scotch Plains on Tuesday evening.

Mayor Losardo, Township Manager Al Mirabella, Deputy Manager Margaret Heisey, Councilwoman Ellen ZImmerman, and Downtown Redevelopment Coordinator Tom Strowe, and Lisa Mohn of the Scotch Plains Business and Professional Association joined members of the Peterpaul family in celebrating their latest venture in town. The family also owns the popular Grillestone on Route 22 West in Scotch Plains.

The eatery offers hand-crafted pizza and classic Italian dinners with modern flair. It also features a cocktail bar serving signature drinks.

"Frank and Anthony and the rest of their family have made Grano a labor of love, complete with family portraits on the walls. I hear the chicken marsala is outstanding," said Mayor Losardo. "We look forward to a lively bar scene here once COVID is over."
