SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Maria's Pizza (381 Park Ave.) in downtown Scotch Plains has closed and it assets have been seized by the State of New Jersey Division of Taxation on July 18, 2019.

A bright orange seizure notice signed by Kenneth Cowie, regional supervisor for the New Jersey Division of Taxation, now hangs on the door of the pizzeria, which was located in the rear of its building and did not have a streetfront entrance way on Park Avenue. A call to Maria's Pizza's phone number (908) 322-2323 yielded a busy signal.

Maria's had previously been seized by the state in 2016, but reopened after a brief shutdown.
