SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Max's Pizza, run by Scotch Plains resident Max Perrone, officially opened to the public on Monday, Dec. 30, 2019, at the former site of Maria's Pizza. The pizzeria owner also owned Nunzio's before selling several years ago and also ran the successful Ciro's on Lake Ave. in Clark.
The eatery was given a makeover said Enrico Pigna, whose construction company did the build-out.
"The biggest change was to make a cosy, welcoming atmosphere," Pigna said. "That's why we went 'Old School' with the classic red-and-white tablecloths."
On hand for the ribbon-cutting was Scotch Plains Mayor Al Smith, Deputy Township Manager Margaret Heisey, Redevelopment Coordinator Tom Strowe, Lisa Mohn of the Scotch Plains Business & Professionals Association, and Gene Jannotti of the Greater Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce, and members of the chamber.
