SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD/WESTFIELD, NJ -- Scotch Plains residents are invited to participate in an area wide food bank/drive on Friday, April 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Shovlin Mattress Factory at 35 South Ave. in Fanwood to benefit the Rahway Food For Friends Food Bank & Soup Kitchen who is in desperate need of help.

For those of you who want to help, but cannot get out or do not want to risk being outside, there is additional information and a Paypal button on their site: https://www.rahwayfoodforfriendsnj.org.

There will be other drop-off points:
Westfield/Mountainside - (9:00 a.m. to Noon) North Side of Westfield - 322 Elm St., at the Hertell Building - Shoreline East Construction Corp Truck will be there Westfield - (9:00 a.m. to Noon) South Side - 490 Otisco Drive - Westfield - Look for Harmony Design Group Truck.

Garwood/Cranford - (9:00 a.m. to Noon) - Crossroads - 78 North Ave, Garwood - look for the Cuccaro Landscaping & a Star Painting, Inc. Truck will be there to collect

Clark - (10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) - Arthur L. Johnson High School - 365 Westfield Ave - Clark, NJ - Apluspainting will have a truck on location to collect



Food Items Needed: Non-Perishables (but not limited to): Food Related Items: pasta, rice, sauces, baby food (canned & shelf stable), canned goods (veggies, fruit, beans, etc.), can openers (extras around the house), mac & cheese, jelly, tuna, cereal, snack bars, peanut butter, Lunchables, canned or boxed soups, oatmeal, apple sauce, shelf stable milk, and any other type of non-perishable items.

Non-Food Items Needed: Hand and body lotion, shampoo, sanitizer & sanitizer wipes, toilet paper, napkins, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, deodorant, disposable razors, (men's and women's), disposable diapers, especially sizes 3,4,5, and 6 socks.

Deputy Mayor Josh Losardo helped organize this along with Union County Freeholder Kimberly Palmieri Mouded, Garwood Mayor Sara Todisco, and Westfield Councilman Mark LoGrippo. The Westfield Leader/Scotch Plains Times is a co-sponsor of this drive.
