SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA will host the opening program and volunteer fair for the Martin Luther King Day of Service on Monday, Jan. 21, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the event, a day of community service in Scotch Plains and Fanwood co-sponsored by Social Justice Matters, The Township of Scotch Plains, The Borough of Fanwood, Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA, The JCC of Central New Jersey, and The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Ministerium.

Health Kits for the Homeless

SJBC Youth Ministry will be making Health Kits for Homeless and Low Income families. The kits will be made in the Fellowship Hall after the MLK Opening Program is completed; Jan. 21.

The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA will package 10,000 meals in an assembly-line of highly nutritious dehydrated meals comprised of rice, soy, vegetables, and 23 essential vitamins and minerals. 
Donations will also be accepted to pay for the meals.

Adults and families are welcome to participate. Learn more at Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all MLK Day activities.
