SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- A founding member of the Scotch Plains Garden Club and a Scotch Plains Councilwoman, Rose Checchio lost her battle to breast cancer in October 2018. She was passionate about her community, love for the outdoors and finding peace through meditation.

In an effort to honor these passions, the Scotch Plains Garden Club and family and friends of Rose's hosted a Wine, Cheese, and Chocolate Fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 4 at the Shady Rest Clubhouse (820 Jerusalem Road, Scotch Plains) to raise money to build a Meditation Garden at the Frazee House to honor her.

The event featured wine, cheese, chocolate and music. It was attended by Mayor Al Smith, Deputy Township Manager Margaret Heisey, and Councilwoman Elizabeth Stamler, as well as members of Rose's family and her many friends.
