SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The 2020 Census is approaching, and there are $675 billion dollars in federal funding for the next 10 years up for grabs for state and local governments.

The number of people counted in New Jersey will impact the amount of federal funding that local governments, such as the Township of Scotch Plains, will receive. Thus, it is crucial that we count everyone for the upcoming 2020 Census, which is currently hiring for key positions.

Mayor Al Smith and Downtown Redevelopment Coordinator Tom Strowe explain the impact of the Census in this video.
