TRENTON, NJ -- Gov. Phil Murphy during his daily press conference on Monday, April 27, announced 2,146 new positive test results, pushing the statewide total to 111,188. Sadly, he also reported another 106 COVID-19 deaths, bringing New Jersey's total of loss of life to 6,044

Additionally, as of last night’s reporting, there are 6,407 patients hospitalized for COVID-19 and field medical stations reported 75 patients. Statewide, there are 1,801 patients in either critical or intensive care, a number that is down roughly 9% from where it was last Monday. Ventilator use also continues to trend downward to 1,303 currently in use – an 18% reduction from just one week ago.

There were 314 new hospitalizations vs. 480 discharges yesterday, and the governor says that the trend line "continues to point in the right direction."

"We continue to see discharges exceed new admissions," Gov. Murphy said. "This data, which we receive and report every day, is the measuring stick of our progress against COVID-19. "

"As we work to put New Jersey back on the road of progress and prosperity, we know that this war is still far from over," the governor added. "We need to continue focusing on our social distancing and taking the steps necessary to flatten the curve, so we can move down this road (to normalcy)."
