FANWOOD, NJ -- Mayor Colleen Mahr and the Fanwood Borough Council named planning board member Michael Lysicatos Volunteer of the Month at the July 15, 2019, Council meeting.
Lysicatos has been a member of the board since 2015 and a Fanwood resident for six years. He is the Director of the Passaic County Department of Planning & Economic Development, and brings great experience and insight to our planning board.
"He is a voice of reason and not afraid to speak his mind," said Mayor Mahr in presenting him with the traditional token of appreciation, a framed print of the historic Fanwood train station.
In other developments, the Council adopted on first reading an ordinance that authorizes a redevelopment plan for Old South Avenue, the small street behind Fanwood Liquors. The plan would vacate Old South Avenue to make way for development of the new project at the site of the former A&P and the area just west of it (near K9 Resorts).
A public hearing on the ordinance will be held next month. It is also subject to review and approval by the Fanwood planning board.
