SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA (FSPY) is bringing its Spring Track program back to local elementary and middle schools this month. The co-ed program helps students build their endurance and speed as well as hone their racing skills.

The Elementary School Track program is open to boys and girls in grades 3 and 4. It will be held at School One and McGinn Elementary Schools, and students from any SP-F Elementary School are welcome to attend. The elementary school season runs from March 23 through May 5, culminating with the United For A Cause Fun Run (

Middle School Track is open to boys and girls in grades 5 to 8 at Park and Terrill Middle Schols in Scotch Plains and Kumpf Middle School in Clark. Introductory meetings will be held: Tuesday, March 10 at 3pm at Park Middle; Wednesday, March 11 at 3:00 p.m. at Terrill, and Thursday, March 12 at 3:00 pm at Kumpf. The Middle School season runs March 23 through May 15.

There is a fee associated with these programs. You must be a member of the Fanwood-Scotch Plains Y to participate. Register at the FSPY Welcome Center, located at 1340 Martine Ave. in Scotch Plains.
