SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Patrick's Downtown Race to Summer, a popular event scheduled to take place on June 25 this year, has been postponed.
"We will try to see if rescheduling it could be a possibility," said Tom Strowe, a member of the Patrick's Downtown Race to Summer Committee. "I'm sure a lot of things will be targeted for the fall. We are also considering that it could be combined with another event. We'll look and see in the months ahead."
"Patrick's Downtown Race to Summer is one of the five prongs of the Mayor's Wellness Program. It's disappointing that this event will not be run in June," said Mayor Al Smith. "However, the sprit of the race will go on, and hopefully it will be rescheduled for a September timeframe."
To our community:
In these uncertain times, one thing we are certain of is our desire to pull together another race in our great downtown; to be able to celebrate, together, as a community.
Unfortunately, it is not looking like that is going to be feasible this year in June 2020, as we do not know how long the restrictions on gatherings will be in place for.
We are exploring a possible Fall race, but if that does not come to fruition, we will be back in June 2021!
Stay healthy, enjoy this time with your families & thank you for your support. We can’t wait to do it again soon!
