SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Over 200 friends, family and supporters participated in The Rose Checchio Walk to Wipe Out Breast Cancer in Scotch Plains on Saturday, Oct. 5. Held in honor of the late Councilwoman Rose Checcio, all proceeds from the race and from the sale of T-shirts go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation through Play for P.I.N.K. 

Councilwoman Rose Checchio made significant contributions to the Township of Scotch Plains following her election in 2014 and initiated many programs that helped the community. She was also a successful business owner and founder of Little Genius Academy, a dedicated wife and mother, and a role model for the community. She served as Scotch Plains Township's Deputy Mayor in 2016.

After the race, Scotch Plains hosted its annual Health & Wellness Fair on the Alan Augustine Village Green.
