The Scotch Plains Public Library is pleased to announce two upcoming online fitness classes.
On Friday, July 17 at 10 am, Yasmin Ofek is offering her previously-scheduled Gentle Fitness and Balance class live online via Zoom.
When you develop better awareness of your body through exploring a variety of gentle movements, you can increase your range of motion and achieve better and safer movement in your daily activities.
Yasmin’s classes integrate principles from the Feldenkrais Method (also known as ‘Awareness through Movement’), to help create a better connection between the brain and body—while also strengthening the muscles that keep the body upright. Her teaching is informed by her background in many physical disciplines, including yoga and tai-chi.
Later in the month, on Thursday, July 30 at 7 pm, Yasmin will offer a special class for runners and walkers. You will learn how to organize your body to allow your feet to push you forward easily and efficiently, overcoming habitual movement patterns that use excessive strain.
These classes will involve sitting and standing alternately, so please have a chair available and wear good sneakers.
Advanced registration is required for these online programs. Please register no later than 2 hours before the program in order to guarantee your spot. Registered participants will receive a Zoom link via email a day or two in advance. The registration form, and information about the entire summer reading program, can be found at www.scotlib.org.
The Scotch Plains Public Library is grateful to the Friends of the Scotch Plains Public Library for their generous support of the entire summer reading program.
