FANWOOD/SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA is gearing up for an unforgettable summer camp experience this year, and there are select spots available for campers entering kindergarten through sixth grade.
The Summer Camp program will be held from July 6 through August 28 at the Y’s main building at 1340 Martine Ave. in Scotch Plains. Camp will run Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and registrations are made on a weekly basis for the 8 weeks camp is being held. The Y suggests registering for all weeks you are interested in sending your child, as space is filling fast.
The Y’s Camp Team has been working closely with experts in the camping field and Y-USA on ways to safely run camp this summer. Y-USA has been working with the American Camping Association and CDC and together they have hired Environmental Health and Engineering (EH&E), to work on safety procedures and protocols. The Y also will be following the state’s guidelines for running summer camp.
“The health and safety of our campers and staff is our main priority,” said Kim Decker, CEO of the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA. “Our Camp Team has been extensively planning on ways to keep campers engaged and having fun while following state guidelines and expert recommendations. This summer will be a great, fulfilling experience that they will remember for years to come.”
The Y’s Summer Camp program will include: social/emotional learning games and activities; sports and movement activities; STEM; art and music; gardening; water safety skills; life skills; water play, and more.
