FANWOOD/SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Each week, the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA highlights a member of their staff, a YMCA member or volunteer as part of their "We Are Y Wednesdays" series on social media.

Today, meet Jess Pace, one of their Camp and School Age Child Care counselors who recently graduated from college with an education degree, and whose Y connection runs in the family.

“My grandmother actually worked for the Y in the Kinder Wrap program years back. My mom also worked at the Y at the front desk. I went to camp here from when I was 4 years old until I couldn’t go anymore," Jess said. "I started working here about seven years ago in Child Watch and then started working in Camp and SACC. The Y has been a really big part of my life.

"I like working with the kids and getting to know them. Since I want to be a teacher, helping them with homework and working with them is good preparation," Jess added. "Ever since I was in high school, I knew I wanted to work with children. With my grandmother and aunt, who also works in education, it really runs in my family. I really enjoy working for the Y. Some of my best friends are people I’ve worked with. It’s a really good community of people to be around.”

The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA is currently hiring and has a number of open positions, including those in their Child Care and School Age Child Care Departments. To view all FSPY's job opportunities, visit
