Doris Soto-Rodriguez, who trained Carlos at Newark PD and has since retired, said it a pleasure to have worked with him.

"He is a smart individual who has a bright future. I told him to use Newark as a stepping stone and to move on to bigger and better things. Obviously, he listened," said Soto-Rodriguez. "Congratulations to Fanwood PD for their addition to their finest."

Officer Gonzalez has a Criminal Justice degree from Kean University. He is a local resident and is bilingual.
