FANWOOD, NJ -- The Fanwood and Scotch Plains fire departments responded to a house fire near the corner of LaGrande and Laurel on Sunday evening. 

The blaze was extinguished within 20 minutes of receiving the call, according to Fanwood fire chief John Piccola, who said that there were no injuries and the family, including pets, had escaped. 

"We are pretty sure is was an electrical fire, but there will be an investigation by the county's fire investigators to determine the exact cause," Chief Piccola said. is Scotch Plains-Fanwood’s only free daily paper.
