CLARK, NJ – Clark Mayor Bonaccorso spoke exclusively with TAPintoClark on Thursday evening about the Union County Prosecutor’s take-over of his town's police department. Bonaccorso said he does not know the nature of the investigation.

“People have to understand this is an ongoing investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office, and details do not get publicized,” he said.

The mayor offered reassurance to town residents about what to expect going forward.

“The day-to-day operations of our town police department are being managed by law enforcement from the Prosecutor’s Office,” said Bonaccorso. “The safety of our community will always be paramount.”

Bonaccorso confirmed that Police Chief Pedro Matos and Captain Vincent Concina were placed on administrative leave while the investigation is conducted.  He also said another officer was relieved of his Internal Affairs duties but remains on the job.
