SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ – Police Chief Ted Conley introduced seven new school safety officers in the SPFK12 school district at the Scotch Plains Council meeting on Tuesday evening.

All are SLEO Class III officers, who are recently retired and permitted to carry firearms :

  • Officer Arthur Bruschetti Jr., (retired from Scotch Plains PD), who is working at Terrill Middle School
  • Officer Jack Redling (retired from Scotch Plains PD), who is working at Evergreen School
  • Officer Thomas Larmore (retired from Linden PD), who is working at McGinn School
  • Officer Eugene Goldston (retired from Plainfield PD), who is working at Coles School
  • Officer Robert Merten (retired from the Union County Sheriffs Office), who is working at School One
  • Officer Dino Caminiti (retired from Plainfield PD), who is working at Brunner School
  • Officer Henry Obiedeinski (retired from Kenilworth PD), who is working at Park Middle School

Chris Aversa, an active duty Scotch Plains police officer, began working as a School Resource Officer (SRO)  at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School last spring.
