SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- On Friday, June 12, 2020, at approximately 11:45 p.m. patrol units responded to the area of Goodmans Crossing on a report of an individual that was struck by a train.
The responding officers as well as members of the Clark Police Department located a Norfolk Southern train stopped on the tracks. The train was traveling westbound when the impact occurred.
A deceased male was located in the area. The Clark Volunteer Emergency Squad, the RWJ Medic 10, and the Scotch Plains Fire Department responded. The victim was identified as a 40-year-old male who resided in Scotch Plains.
"We are not looking into foul play at all," said Police Chief Ted Conley, who added that he likely would not release the man's name.
