FANWOOD, NJ -- The Fanwood Police Department is investigating a stolen motor vehicle on North Avenue that occurred sometime between Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 9:00 p.m and Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 7:00 a.m.

The vehicle was left unlocked with its key nearby. An investigation is underway, and officers are canvassing the immediate area for surveillance footage.

Also, during the above time frame, an unlocked vehicle on Paterson Road was burglarized and personal property was removed.  Surrounding towns are experiencing similar incidents.

"We urge all residents to also lock their vehicle doors and remove valuables from sight in order to avoid having intruders enter their vehicles," said Fanwood Police Chief Richard Trigo. "We ask that anyone who might have surveillance video contact the Fanwood Police Department at (908) 322-5000."
