SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- TheScotch Plains-Fanwood Baseball League 9U Blue travel team won the Summer League Championship on Thursday with a 13-3 victory over previously undefeated Fords, NJ. 

The Raiders were led by strong pitching from Landon Clinton and Darien Quiceno, who allowed only 6 hits over 6 innings. Trailing 2-0, in the third, SPF exploded offensively, with a timely bases loaded triple by Matthew Hayeck (2 for 3, with 4 RBI).  Later in the inning, AJ Skara unloaded a bomb to right, for another triple, driving another two runs.  Henry Jacobson (1--for-3) continued his aggressive hitting streak, driving their first run, muscling an outside pitch to the opposite field. Ryan Scholin added an RBI later in the inning, as well. 

The boys showed amazing discipline at the plate, led by multiple deep count walks from Jackson Murphy (1-for-1, 1 RBI), Lucas Tariche (0-for-1, 1 RBI), Liam Dugan (0-1, 1 Run), who also played commanding defense at 3rd base.

Liam St. John (1-for-3) had strong plays in the field, making two put outs. William Oldham provided a strong defensive presence, calling the final 3 shut out innings after making many plays at Second, earlier in the game.

The victory brought the boys full circle, from last summer, when they lost in the Championship game. Congratulations also to coaches, Alex Quiceno, Josh Oldham, John Dugan, and Louis Clinton, who hosted a post-game ice cream celebration for the team.
