SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- In a battle of crosstown rivals, Elijah Barlow, AJ Sepulveda, Matt Tracey, and Isaac Holmes all scored in double figures to lead the Union Catholic boys to a 64-57 road victory over Scotch Plains-Fanwood on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
Barlow, a junior guard, scored six of his team-high 13 points in the first quarter when UC took a 17-13 lead.
In the second quarter, Tracey scored eight his 12 points when the Vikings opened a 34-26 halftime lead.
Union Catholic was able to sustain its lead in the second half behind Holmes and Sepulveda. Holmes scored 10 of his 12 points and Sepulevda eight of his 10 in the final two quarters to help the Vikings secure the victory.
Matt Drubulis led the Raiders with 17 points on the strength of four 3-pointers, while Liam Mahr added 11, and Justin Fletcher chipped in 10 points.
Scotch Plains-Fanwood (4-13) next visits Plainfield on the road Thursday.
Union Catholic, now 11-6 on the season, will be back in action on Thursday at home at 7 p.m. vs. Westfield. The Vikings will seek to avenge their four-point loss to the Blue Devils last month.
