MORRIS PLAINS, NJ -- The Union Catholic cross-country teams had a sensational day on Saturday as the boys and girls varsity swept team titles, Myles Plummer won the boys B race, and the JV girls were victorious at the Stewart Memorial Invitational on the Greystone Course at Central Park.

In the boys varsity B race, Plummer, a sophomore, led the charge for the Vikings by finishing first in 16:25 as UC averaged 17:18 and outscored runner-up Secaucus, 42-76.

The rest of the scoring runners for UC were Matt Granizo, sixth in 17:15, Zach Turner, eighth in 17:19, Sam Hernandez, 12th in 17:46, and Andrew Palacio,15th place in 17:51.

In the girls varsity B race, UC crammed three runners in the top six and averaged 20:02 on the way to a 41-73 victory over runner-up Metuchen.

Senior Leena Morant led the strong frontal attack for UC by placing second in 19:07. Sophomore  Abby Granrath placed fifth in 19:39, freshman Kathryn Power finished sixth in 19:45, freshman Maameyaa Nyinah was 12th in 20:38, and sophomore Jenna Keith placed 16th in 21:00.

The JV girls title march was led by the 1-2 finish by Elsa Spoor, first in 21:45, and Zamira Ysaac, second in 22:02. The Vikings outscored Rumson, 18-44.
