MORRIS PLAINS, NJ -- The Union Catholic boys, led by Myles Plummer, picked up two team titles and the girls received another strong race from Abby Granrath and captured one title at the New Jersey Catholic Track Conference Cross-Country Championships on the Greystone course on Saturday.

The UC varsity boys, led by Plummer's third place finish, won the B Division team title, and the J.V. boys, sparked by individual winner Noah Alston, were also victorious. The girls also had a big day on the trails as the freshmen squad finished on top of the team standings, and Granrath was third in the varsity race. 

In the boys varsity race, Plummer, a sophomore, ran a personal best 16:09 over the 3.1-mile course to lead the charge for the Vikings, who averaged 16:55 and won the B Division title with 85 points. Matt Granizo was seventh for UC in 16:36, Zach Turner ran 16:56 to finish 17th, Sam Hernandez placed 24th in 17:18, and Noah Handlin ran 17:35 toi place 34th,

For the boys J.V., Alston, a sophomore, ran 17:50 to win the race and spearhead UC's attack as the Vikings averaged 18:20 and outscored runner-up Delbarton, 24-52, to win the team championship. Also for the Vikings, Caudell Cajuste, the winner of the Union County Freshman Championship, was second in 17:55, Liam Robb was seventh (18:35), Ryan Cickocki eighth in 18:39, and Daniel Labrie placed ninth in 18:42.           

In the girls competition, Granrath, a sophomore who won the Union County title earlier this month, continued her breakout season by placing third in the varsity race in 18:59.

The UC freshmen girls used a 2-3-4 finish from Kathryn Power (13:11), Maameyaa Nyinah (13:28) and Elsa Spoor (13:39) to ignite a 27-36 victory over runner-up Trinity Hall. UC's other scorers were Erica Dines, 18th over the 3,200-meter course in 15:57, and Kaitlyn McKnight, 19th in 16:08.
