MADISON, NJ – Scotch Plains resident Zach Lipshitz of the Drew University baseball team has earned a spot on the American Baseball Coaches of America (ABCA)/Rawlings Division III All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team. Lipshitz becomes just the fourth All-Region selection in program history and just the third ABCA all-region pick.
 
Earlier this month, Lipshitz was also honored with First-Team All-Landmark Conference recognition, becoming the first Ranger in program history to earn the distinction three times. During the past season, he led the Rangers in numerous offensive categories, including batting average (.395), hits (51), runs (37), and home runs (seven). Among the Landmark Conference leaders, he finished third in batting, tied for fourth in runs, tied for second in homers, and second in walks (28). Lipshitz closed out his career on a remarkable streak of reaching base in 25 straight games.
 
A four-year starter, Lipshitz played in 136 games and made 127 starts. For his career, he tied for second in school history in hits (174) and finished third in batting (.360), sixth in runs (107), seventh in RBIs (92), eighth in doubles (30), sixth in home runs (10), and tied for eighth in games played. Also an outstanding defensive performer, he finished with a .939 fielding percentage.

Lipshitz helped guide the Rangers to their second 20-win season in the last three years, as the team finished with a record of 20-17 this past season. The squad also finished 8-10 in the Landmark Conference, missing a conference playoff berth by just one game.
