SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- Although the program is just a few years old at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School, the varsity team is finding sweet success in the fall of 2019.

Under spectacular playing conditions, the girls took on a tough Union team in a battle that was scoreless in the first half until Erin Lay scored off a corner assist from Cassidy Novello to put the Raiders up, 1-0, with 11:52 left in the period.

Bridget Ennis put the game away with 12:27 left to play in the second period when she found the back of the net on an assist by Allie Serio.

"Today was a big win for us because Union is one of the teams that we lost to early in our season," said Coach Allie Neidig after the game. "We came in ready to play, knowing exactly what we needed to do to get the win. The girls went out there and did it. We had strong defense, good passing, and communication."

With the win, the girls have won four straight games. They next play on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 4:00 p.m. against Columbia HS (Maplewood) at home.
