SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- The first ever Friday night home game at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School's football field will have to wait because the scheduled season opener vs. Colonia has been canceled. Cheerleading also is on hold for its 2020-21 debut.

"The Scotch Plains-Fanwood athletic department is working with the health department to ensure that student-athletes have the healthiest environment," SPFHS athletic director Ryan Miller told TAPintoSPF. "We continue to cooperate with health department officials and the school administration and look forward to continuing the athletic season in a safe and healthy environment for everyone."

Miller also stressed that students are being reminded to stay vigilant in their hygiene practices: wearing face coverings, maintaining social distancing, and hand-washing.
