SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Union Catholic girls celebrated Senior Day with a 45-37 victory over Cranford on Thursday afternoon in Scotch Plains.

Before the game, UC held a special ceremony to honor senior players Abbey Ortiz, Dylan France, Sarah Ohnmeiss, and Ashia Ellison, and senior managers Chelsea Alves, Gabby Velona, and Madison Hnatowski.  

Junior Madison Johnson led the way for UC with 20 points, and junior Gianna Peralta scored nine points, and came up with four of UC's 16 steals. Junior Olivia Magliacano added six points and six rebounds as the Vikings improved to 19-5 on the season.

UC broke open a tie game with a 9-0 run and 17-5 spurt in the second quarter to take a 28-16 halftime lead, and stayed in control of the game throughout the remainder of the game.   

The Vikings will be back in action at Pope John on Saturday at 1 p.m.
