SPRINGFIELD, NJ -- Caroline Morgan scored twice and goalies Ashia Ellison and Meghan Gelcius combined on the shutout to spark the red hot Union Catholic girls soccer team to a 4-0 victory over Dayton on Tuesday.
The Vikings, who avenged a 6-3 opening day loss to Dayton, have now won four of its last five games to improve its season record to 5-4.
Morgan, a junior who has had a breakout season, opened the scoring when she scored on a breakaway to give the Vikings a 1-0 halftime lead. In the second half, Morgan scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season and Christina Layden and Sofia Alves scored for UC.
Ellison had two saves and Gelcius had three to give the Vikings their second straight shutout victory.
