SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Union Catholic soccer stars Christina Layden and Kaleigh Gunsiorowski were recently recognized for their impressive play this past season by the New Jersey Girls Soccer Coaches Association.

Layden, a senior striker, and Gunsiorowski, a sophomore midfielder, were awarded Sectional Recognition Awards after leading the Vikings to an 8-4-2 record this past fall. Layden and Gunsiorowski were also named to the All Union County Conference Team.  

The Marist-bound Layden led the Vikings with 17 goals this past season to raise her career total to 33, and added seven assists. Layden scored at least two goals in five games, and scored in 10 of UC's 14 games.    

Gunsiorowski had a sensational season for the Vikings, scoring six goals and contributing three assists.
