SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- The Scotch Plains-Fanwood girls swim team started of the New Year with a win over New Providence, 114-56, at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA (FSPY) on Monday, Jan.6, 2020.

"The girls swam well. Sweeping the 500 Free (Julia Bonhote, Julianna Warren and Camille Cooke) was a nice race for us," Raiders Coach Jess Hulnik said after the meet. "I'm proud of the way Sophie Mieneke swam in the 100 Free, and 400 Relay Team. We gave people chances to swim different events."

Senior Autumn Keats-O'Connor, who will swim for Tulane in college, was the star for the Pioneers, winning the 200 IM and the 100 Breaststroke.

"Autumn was a little worn down, but if she can stay healthy, she'll continue to do the IM and breaststroke for us. We've had the flu going around," said New Providence swim coach Walter Kempner. "She works hard and will continue to achieve breakthrough swims. She still has a lot of untapped potential."
